So after rising from the flames like a word spewing phoenix with yesterday’s albums of the year list, I thought it might be worth throwing a little context on the whole affair. So here for your viewing pleasure, is the full list of albums and EPs that I listened to last year. Well, the ones that were released in 2013 that is.
I’m posting them purely to get your take on those that didn’t make the final cut. Possibly also to make you mildly annoyed when you see that I included X, when quite frankly Y is far superior. Or to make you mouth foamingly apoplectic that I didn’t even bother listening to Z.
I’ll be honest and say that I don’t actually think there’s a bad album on there. Some have their faults but none are out and out dreadful. Well… maybe one. Still it’s more than previous years can claim. Like I said yesterday, I think 2013 was a corker of a year for music.
I think it’s also worth pointing out that Hookworms would probably have found its way onto the final ‘Favourite Albums of 2013’ list had I gotten it before Christmas. However, as I haven’t really had enough time to fully digest it, it didn’t feel right to include it.
So anyway, here it is, the full list of 2013 releases that I listened to, including the albums that did make the final cut.

No place in the list for Johnny Marr’s “The Messenger”? It’s my pick of the year, and is recommended unreservedly.
Strangely enough, I do have the album. It’s currently in a pile of other albums I’ve not got round to listening to. I’ve thought about it several times but not mustered up the desire to hear it as yet. Your recommendation may just be the inspiration I needed.
